Workshop details: Wet & Wild!
Learn to make water look wet, reflective and splashy.
Study water in its various forms: from cascading waterfall to babbling brook to glassy reflection.
Painting water that looks wet requires some basic knowledge of the dynamics of how water moves and how objects are reflected in its shiny surface.
You will learn techniques that address the various puzzles with which the artist is faced when painting this stunning, fascinating - and yes, confusing - subject!

In addition to traditional methods, learn to use “acrylic underpinnings” to create vibrantcolors in your “waterscapes”.

Julie often begins a watercolor and an oil painting in exactly thesame way: with dark acrylic accents.
The benefits of this method are numerous and enable you toget your painting “off the ground” quickly.
It’s a unique approach to both oil and watercolor (onpaper or canvas) that will add considerably to your repertoire of painting techniques!

Workshop demos will be in watercolor, with acrylic underpainting technique.
There will be plenty of painting time.
Julie will provide a handout on water-painting tips and a photo you are welcome to use.
Individual consultation and critiques will be provided throughout.
A maincritique (1-2 hours) will occur at the end of each workshop.
