Main Street Gallery – Our Mission Statement

The first steps we took during our successful pledge drive was to develop bylaws, policies and procedures, and a projected budget and business plan. The directors of the Main Street Gallery are committed to providing quality art and crafts and supporting the community in artistic development and awareness. Below is our mission statement, from our Policies and Procedures document.

Mission Statement of the Main Street Gallery

The purpose of the Gallery is to…

  • support local and emerging artists in the community
  • provide a learning environment for community artists through workshops and art instruction
  • manage and operate the Gallery as a venue for local and out of county artists
  • enhance Trinity County’s economy by providing a tourist attraction in Old Town Weaverville
  • continue to promote the artistic and cultural development of the area

Trinity County is a rural mountain area with very unique in its stunning environmental beauty. The Main Street Gallery, centered in historic and quaint downtown Weaverville, plays an important role in the arts communities of the North State Region, promoting artvand artists in Trinity, Shasta, Siskiyou, Mendocino, and Humboldt counties. The Gallery adds to the focus of Weaverville as an arts community and provides a “draw” for visitors in our tourist-oriented county. In addition, the Main Street Gallery is a crucial hub for arts development and education in the community.

The monthly Art Cruise on the first Saturday of each month attracts locals and visitors, providing a focus for community participation and a needed support to venues and businesses in Old Town Weaverville.

The Main Street Gallery mission of commitment to local artists and to the community is reflected in its programs and policies by…

  • Providing a venue for emerging artists and crafters to show their art
  • Providing art education and classes for developing artists
  • Introducing the community to artistic technique, expression, history, and culture
  • Exposing local artists to fine artists from outside the community, through Featured Artists shows and workshops, in order to develop emerging artists’ artistic skill and appreciation
  • Developing creative expression, building talent, and thereby fostering growth and well-being across age, socioeconomic, special need, and culturally diverse lines in our community
  • Providing a place for creative expression for youths, adults, and seniors.
