A skilled and versatile guitarist, Tobin Roye has established himself as one of the most outstanding guitarists to emerge from the North State. Adept in many styles, he has attained a wealth of professional experience performing in a wide variety of settings throughout Northern California. He has worked extensively with rock bands, jazz ensembles, and in musical theater. His true forte, however, is classical guitar, to which he currently dedicates his career.

Mr. Roye earned his BA in music from CSU, Chico. He has received scholarships to attend the National Guitar Summer Workshop in New Milford, CT, California State University Summer Arts programs at Humboldt and Long Beach, and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he earned his M.M.. While a student at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Roye studied with guitarist’s Marc Teicholz and Dusan Bogdanovic. He has performed in master classes for such illuminaries as Manuel Barreuco, Roland Dyens, Ricardo Iznaola, and Andrew York.

As a freelance guitarist, Tobin Roye has played hundreds of gigs throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. He has performed in major hotels, restaurants, wineries, churches, department stores, hospitals, art galleries and community centers of San Francisco, and the greater bay area.

Currently, Tobin Roye resides in Chico, CA, where he is employed as primary guitar instructor at California State University, Chico. He maintains a full roster of students in his studio, and also teaches courses in music theory. He continues to be an active performer of guitar, giving formal public recitals, and performing for hire for private functions and community engagements, throughout Northern California.
