A PIRATES TWELVE DAYS of CHRISTMAS – Book review by S.A. Barone

A Pirate's Twelve days of Christmas

A PIRATES TWELVE DAYS of CHRISTMAS

Book review by S.A. Barone

This book written by Philip Yates and illustrated by Sebastia Serra, is a wonderfully delightful and humorous book that will delight children everywhere.  It’s as funny and fun as Yates’ first pirate book, A Pirate’s Night Before Christmas.

“Ahoy mateys,” yells the pirate.  “Christmas is coming and even pirates celebrate the holiday!”  These pirates have so much fun with the twelve days of Christmas poem.  The book has impeccable rhythm and a lively sense of fun.

A brave cabin boy receives these mysterious gifts for each of the 12 days he is left alone to guard the pirate ship.  He receives, a parrot in a palm tree, 2 cutlasses, 3 black cats, 4 cacklin hens, and so on.

Philip Yates and Sebastian Serra creates a delightful world all their own.

I have tried to find out something about the illustrations but I couldn’t find any information as to what the medium was, how it was applied, etc., however, the illustrations are sensational and beautifully done.  I’m thinking acrylic.  Whatever it is it’s awesome.

Happy Reading!
