Main Street Gallery, Weaverville, CA – July 2013 – Joy Wiltsee

The Main Street Gallery is proud to present Joy Wiltsee’s latest collection of work June 30 through July 31.  Truly a watercolor artist “icon” in the Weaverville community, this exhibit will include her watercolors, pastels, prints and, her new passion, paintings on yupo paper.

Her paintings are immediately recognizable for their colorful and inspiring dance with movement and light. She captures the essence of our Trinity County landscape through her distinct and very personal interpretation of her subject. “I cherish the playful passion within and try to channel that into my paintings. Through my paintings I want to stir emotions, create a mood and make you want to step into the painting. I try for expression rather than precision,” says Wiltsee.

An avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, she captures the excitement, grandeur and majesty of our beautiful area. “Light, composition, color and perspective are as amazingly diverse as the painting themselves.”

When asked why Wiltsee shows her work exclusively in Weaverville she states, “ It's half laziness and half loyalty.” She feels her true beginnings in watercolor began in Weaverville, her happy home for 24 years, and where a great fan club of collectors has grown. Combined with the support she receives from the community and the success of her previous local art shows, she feels it is an immense affirmation of her as an artist and she is immensely grateful.

A reception for the artist will be held Saturday, July 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the Weaverville monthly Art Cruise.

There’s still time to see the June Show featuring Patricia A. Carlson, a multi-media artist, whose interpretive realism of her painting celebrates the grandeur of the North State. She has received numerous awards, fine arts grants and fellowships. Show ends June 29, 2013.
