Art Classes for kids (8-11 years)
2012 Schedule

Your child is about to embark on a memorable journey, exploring the works of Van Gogh, Cassatt, Homer, Picasso and more with local artist Raette Meredith. (www.artbyraette.com) The entire program is a total of 40 weeks long and covers 35 artists. Students may sign up for one session or all five. Upon completion, student will earn a certificate from the "Meet the Masters" program, and a keepsake portfolio that they make themselves.

Program is divided into (5) 4-week sessions, with (2) 1 1/2-hour classes per week. The first 30 minutes of class is discussion and introduction to the project of the day. The last 50 minutes is hands-on art project time. The final ten minutes is clean-up time. Students are provided with all art supplies necessary for the class. The Saturday following the last class of the session is an open-house art show, featuring work of the students.

Supplies fee per 4-week session is $30, due upon registration, non-refundable. This is to ensure that adequate supply kits are available on the first day of class.

Westside Performing Arts Company will be offering a one-day audition workshop
on Saturday, January 14 from 12:00pm-4:00pm. The session will afford performers
the opportunity to be prepared for their next musical theater audition through
hands-on participation and instructional observation.

Each student must come prepared for a mock audition. Immediate feedback
will be provided. Students will learn more about improving their monologue,
choosing an appropriate song, audition attire, resume preparation as well as
making a memorable impression. Instructors are experienced in both acting
and musical casting auditions.

Every actor will get personalized attention during the session. We will pool our knowledge and experience to offer practical insight as we focus with you on your specific concerns and questions, guiding you through auditions for open calls, musicals, or plays.

Each participant must come prepared for a mock audition by preparing a one minute monologue and ~16 bars of a song along with sheet music.  We encourage you to dress in appropriate attire and bring along your audition resume for additional feedback and constructive critique.  We will also discuss appropriate follow-up and how to learn from your audition experience.

Fee: $45 ($5 discount if paid by Friday, January 6)

The 12/21/11 Meisner workshop at Redding's Riverfront Playhouse from 6-9pm asks for donations of $20 per person with limited amount of scholarships available.

Now that the kids are getting ready to begin their Winter Break, they have a great opportunity to participate in a fun and educational Winter Art Camp. Classes will be held at Old City Hall 9am-12pm December 20-23, and 9am-12pm or 1:30pm-4:30pm December 27-30.  Reservations are required.  $55 plus materials fee of $25 for the week.
