Jeff Brusatori I became interestedin Soapstone carving approximately 5 1/2 years ago when my wife Debra (who is also Native American) took me to a Pow Wow. I noticed somenative artwork that were of different animal carvings handmade out of soapstone. They were intriguing to look at because of the various shades and colors, almost marble-looking. I hesitated on buying a carving kit at first because of my previous artistic skills. I decided to buy a carving kit anyway. It consisted of 8 different shaped files or riflers and odd shaped stones with a bear pattern. I went to work and much to my surprise I was amazed at the talent that I actually have. I have found it enjoyable and relaxing to actually make something with your hands, seeing the beginning, middle and finished product that can be enjoyed by many for years to come, and knowing that you are carrying on a native heritage.http://www.soapstone4u.us 530-739-0465
